Workshop: Longsword – Attack and defend in a stable way

In this workshop we will learn possibilities of attack and defence from exemplary stances Fiore described as ‘stable’ – the Shortened Stance and the Middle Iron Gate. Those two seem to be most natural and easiest in use. We will try to approach them historically and from sport perspective.

Minimum equipment: sword + fencing mask

Advanced workshop: Longsword – Attack and defend in a powerful way

In this workshop we will learn possibilities of attack and defence from exemplary stances Fiore described as ‘powerful’ – the Iron Gate and the Stance of the Queen on the Right. We will try to see them in the historical context (how Fiore would do that) and from sport perspective. We will also try to see them in reference to stances described as ‘stable’: the Shortened Stance and the Middle Iron Gate.

Minimum equipment: sword + fencing mask
