By the Sword organises Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) events centring women and marginalised genders of any experience level who want to approach and study the art of swordsmanship.

Started in 2017 as an event for women featuring female instructors, we hope to bring together people who want a place to learn that feels safe, friendly, and devoted to personal excellence.

By providing instruction and training spaces on multiple disciplines in a relaxed and encouraging environment, By the Sword empowers you to begin or further your studies of Historical European martial arts in an environment where you can be yourself, and better yourself.
